Decision Taken On Providing Additional Fodder To Cattle In Fodder Camps
Implement an automated system to manage cattle attendance and tracking at fodder camps—Government’s Directive
Mumbai: The Government of Maharashtra which has started the Cattle Camps in the drought-affected areas has taken a decision to increase the quantity of fodder for the cattle at these camps. Along with this, the government has decided to computerize the counting techniques used to keep track of the number of cattle coming to these camps on the day to day basis. This decision was taken on Sunday by an official notification issued by the government.
As per this new notification the Government has decided to increase the quantity of fodder. The notification further says that big cattle which used to be provided with 15 kgs of green hay and sugar cane, now will be provided with 18 kgs of green hay and sugarcane. The small cattle were earlier provided with 7.5 kgs of green hay and sugarcane will henceforth be provided with 9 kgs of green hay and sugarcane on a daily basis.
The government further states its intent to keep track of the cattle coming to these camps by keeping their headcount through an app called the “Cattle Management System”. Through this app, the farmer would have to upload the information about the cattle on a day to day basis. The government has provided with the digital tags which need to be attached to the cattle’s ears. This would help the Government to track the number of cattle coming to these camps on a day to day basis. At the district level, all the government officials would be able to keep track of this information given on http://charachavani.com. All the officials from all districts would be given user names and passwords for this process.
As of today, there are 1264 cattle camps with around 8 lakh 32 thousand cattle in them. The Government of Maharashtra has decided to give Rs. 90 to each big cattle and Rs. 45 to each small cattle on a daily basis as a government grant.
