Utilisation Of Solar Energy At Government Buildings And Offices - Revenue Minister Chandrakant Patil

Revenue Minister, Mr Chandrakant Patil explained his desire to apply solar energy for all Government offices and buildings in order to save the electricity. According to Mr Patil, solar energy has been an important alternative energy resource available in ample amount and it can be alternatively used instead of traditional energy resources.
Mr Chandrakant Patil attended an inaugural event of the workshop-- ‘Scoping Mission For Solar Rooftop’ at Hotel Trident. During this event, Mr Patil expressed his desire to utilise solar energy as an ultimate energy resource. According to Mr Patil, utilisation of solar energy can help prevent consumption of water and coal for energy generation purposes. Additionally, it can also reduce the extent of Carbon production in the environment. Mr Patil also suggested that all the corporations in the state need to plan the use of this energy resource in order to provide the facility of street lights. Moreover, using solar energy for industrial applications will also be harmless to the environment and consequently, it will not affect human health too.
Mr Patil provided his valuable inputs during the workshop inaugural ceremony. According to Mr Patil, electric vehicle systems can replace the traditional petrol and diesel vehicles; also, it is preferred to cut down the use of traditional vehicles step-by-step in the future. He also informed about the intitiatives taken by the Government in this regard. The State Government has implemented 5 electric vehicles on an experimental basis and in future, the Government has a plan to reinforce electric vehicles for all government offices and campuses. Apart from this, there will be a provision of vehicle charging through charging points and centres. It will be highly beneficial to the common people too.
During the event, Mr Patil also informed that the State Government has provided solar pump to the farmers. This decision has been beneficial to save electricity consumption for agricultural purposes. He also suggested that the common people should utilise solar energy in order to save traditional resources and for achieving financial and environmental benefits. Mr Patil also informed about the Government initiatives of implementing solar panel on 5000 public building rooftops. The project is in the testing phase and statistics says that 39% of energy conservation has been possible due to solar energy utilisation.
Mr Patil also recalled that Energy Efficiency Service Ltd has successfully implemented the Building Energy Efficiency Programme in the state. Under this programme, there is a plan to change 7000 AC systems, 11 Lakh LED bulb, 6 Lakh fans, 14 thousand street lights. Consequently, this programme will help to save 10 Crore electricity units.
The workshop inaugural event was also graced with the presence and guidance of EESL President, Mr Rajeev Sharma, Managerial Director, Mr Saurabh Kumar, and authorities of public works and energy departments.
