Need Speedy Road Construction And Renovation

Public Works Department Minister Chandrakant (Dada) Patil gave instructions to the Department engineers

Mumbai: The Public Works Department Minister Mr Chandrakant Dada Patil instructed Public Works Department authorities to prioritise road construction, repair, and renovation work on a speedy basis. The 2-day meeting was conducted at Bandhkam Bhavan, Mumbai in order to review the status of road development and the development of Government Buildings and Complexes in the state. During this meeting, Mr Dada Patil reviewed and assessed the road development and the status of Government building projects in Nagpur, Amravati, Aurangabad and Beed districts. 

The meeting was also attended by State Minister Mr Pravin Pote-Patil, Transportation department Secretary Mr C. P Joshi, Construction department Secretary Mr Ajit  Sagane, and Nagpur, Amravati and Aurangabad department’s engineers, etc. During this meeting, Mr Patil took the privilege to guide the attendees. He explained that quality road construction in the state has been a very important aspect in the context of the upcoming Lok Sabha election too. Also, this factor has motivated the masses positively. There is a clear expectations for the completion of State-Budget approved pending transportation works as early as possible. Moreover, it is necessary to undertake road repair work on an immediate basis in case of heavy rains and losses.  For all these tasks, the process of tenders should be initiated and the transportation-related activities should be completed on a preferential basis. Mr Patil also mentioned that it is also essential to complete the road works which are sanctioned through the hybrid annuity scheme. 

Mr Patil instructed the authorities to provide the report on road transportation tasks for the last 5 years of all the talukas to the respective MLAs of those constituencies for review. Mr Patil also instructed authorities to create boards/posters at the project sites giving the information on the completion of the projects of Public Works Department. According to the State Minister, Mr Pravin Pote-Patil, Public Works Department has been the mirror of the development aspects of the state. Fortunately, its graph has been rising since 2014 and it has become more important to improve it in the future through the collaborative efforts.

In the beginning, Public Works Department Secretary, Mr Ajit Sagane evaluated the work of the Building’s department. He emphasised that due to the different initiatives undertaken by the Buildings and Complexes department, PWD has been benefited significantly. As an example, due to Sparsh project, 1500 buildings are well equipped with power conservation systems and it has resulted in 70% savings of electricity bills. Additionally, Green Building projects also have been advantageous to the government. Also, e-vehicles has further reduced the government vehicle and transport costs. 

The Chief Secretary of the Roads department, Mr C P Joshi further added that in Maharashtra state, road development projects worth 55000 crore are undertaken by Rashtriya Mahamarg Pradhikaran. Also, MSRDC is contributing to different projects worth Rupees 82000 Crore including Nagpur-Mumbai Samruddhi Mahamarg. The PWD also has contributed 54000 crore for the road development works and, Mr Joshi hopes that with the completion of these projects, our state will be at the topmost position with reference to developmental initiatives.
